OUR ORIGINS

THE BIRTH OF A TRULY EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT

In 1898, a young charcutier from the Netherlands named Adrianus Wilhelmus Van Berkel made history with the creation of the very first mechanical meat slicer.

This machine used perfect “clockwork” precision, and was based on two simple ideas: a concave blade which would accurately reproduce the hand-knife movement and a mobile tray which moved towards the blade.

This product was aimed primarily at the professional sector, and gained immense popularity.  This enthusiasm is still going strong today.

115 years later, Roberto D’Archivio and Enrico Sozzi, two passionate entrepreneurs, returned to these founding principles and launched TOMAGA Industries.  They specialise in the manufacture and distribution of high-quality, high added value mechanical meat slicers.
